  • Longy School of Music of Bard College, founded as Longy School of Music in 1915 by renowned oboist Georges Longy, is a degree-granting conservatory located in Harvard Square. The school currently serves approximately 250 undergraduate and graduate students from 34 states and 25 countries. Longy has a mission of preparing musicians to make a difference in the world—both on and off the stage. We believe that it is important for our students to be active, vital, and thoughtful participants in the communities around them, and this concept is reinforced through assistantships and enrichment opportunities that place our students in local schools and other community venues. In addition, Longy is home to an incredibly talented array of student and faculty musicians who, collectively, present over 180 free concerts each year.
