CLF is committed to doing all we can to help our brothers and sisters in Haiti who are experiencing unfathomable pain and suffering. We have joined forces with Somerville Local First and the Sustainable Business Network to promote a program that supports Haiti and meets the following criteria:
- Provides money and medical aid to Haiti without delay, and in a way that makes the biggest and most immediate positive impact
- Engages our staff, customers, and business partners in seeking support for Haiti in a way that educates our friends and neighbors as we work together to help others in need
- Supports the Haitian rebuilding process for all of 2010 and beyond, because once the immediate crisis and emergency has waned, the suffering will continue for many years as the infrastructure of Haiti is rebuilt.
Our coalition of almost 500 local and independent business leaders is promoting disaster relief campaigns that we hope will raise over $100,000 by the end of February. This money will support nonprofit organizations doing the absolutely necessary work of saving Haitian lives. Donations will go to following relief organizations:
Partners in Health
Partners In Health, is a Boston/Cambridge charity founded by local Doctor, Paul Farmer, that works to provide fair and affordable health care to the poorest citizens of Haiti and other nations around the world.
