Cambridge Local First, along with SLF and SBN, is raising funds for Haiti!
Like all Americans, Cambridge local independent business leaders have been shocked and saddened by the earthquake and the horrendous situation in Haiti--one of the poorest nations in the world. Some of us have been personally impacted by this catastrophe because we either have friends or relatives in Haiti or we know someone who has loved ones in Haiti. The Boston area has one of the largest populations of Haitians outside of Haiti.
Some CLF members have already taken action. On the morning of Saturday, January 16th, the 1369 Coffee House gave away all drinks for free. In exchange, they collected donations for Stand with Haiti. Many from the Cambridge community came out to help, and the response was overwhelming. Between community donations, employee contributions, and a company gift, 1369 was able to raise more than $10,000 for Haitian earthquake relief.
The Harvest Co-op has also sent over $1,000 in donations to Haiti already; over $500 was raised by contributions from their staff, and this number was matched by the Harvest Co-op Community Fund.
